Dusty's Dust was originally created for popcorn. In that spirit, here is a simple recipe for popcorn...
Ingredients
1 part vegetable oil
2 parts popcorn
Dusty's Dust
Place vegetable oil in a pot on the stove and heat on high until a few kernels placed in the pot are bubbling. Place the remainder of popcorn into the pot and cover, shaking the pot occasionally to keep well mixed. Once a few kernels have popped, remove the pot from the heat for one minute. Return the pot to the high heat and pop the remaining kernels until all kernels are popped, shaking the pot frequently to keep kernels at the bottom of the pot and to prevent the popcorn from burning. If the popcorn overflows the pot during the process, dump the overflow into the popcorn bowl and return the pot to the heat to pop the remaining kernels.
After any popcorn has been added to the popcorn bowl, apply Dusty's Dust to taste immediately. Start lightly with Dusty's Dust, then add more to taste. Too much up front can be overpowering. When all the kernels have been popped, stir the popcorn in the popcorn bowl to ensure Dusty's Dust is evenly distributed.
A Couple of Tips:
Consider using Olive Oil instead of Vegetable Oil. While more expensive, it provides a unique and satisfying taste to the popcorn my family loves.
When mixing Dusty's Dust into the popcorn, use two large bowls. Season the popcorn to taste with Dusty's Dust in one bowl, then transfer the seasoned popcorn back and forth between the two bowls until Dusty's Dust is evenly distributed throughout the popcorn. Be sure to get Dusty's Dust off the bottom of the bowls into the popcorn as needed.
Remember, start lite, then add more to taste.
